The Fringe Comes to Town
Gawler gets an early taste of SA’s famous Mad March as the 2017 Fringe hits town this weekend with great food, continuous music, and your chance to make an early start on Adelaide’s Spring of Festivals!
The Gawler Fringe 2017 kicks off tonight with a weekend of almost continuous music. Walker Place (running between Murray St and Julian Tce) has been closed to traffic, and a temporary music venue has sprung up on the site ready to host an extraordinarily long list of local talent all set to keep the tunes coming all weekend.
Barry Brown is coming to get down with some spunkalicious grooves!
The first act kicks off at 2pm this afternoon, and from then on it’s non-stop tunes and grooves including local duo Brutha’n’I (5:30-6:15pm), Two Wells based party band Sub*stance (7:45-8:30) and a spunkadelically groovy finale by Barry Brown and the Get Down (10-11pm).
The action keeps going on Saturday the 18th, and includes Jazzie Bee (11:45-12:15), Abbie Ferris (2:15-3pm), and Sarah Straschko (3:15-4pm). The evening’s line-up also includes The Brouhaha, who’s new single “Audrey’s Song” debuted on Triple J last week and is already racking up the views on YouTube.
Sunday morning gets’ off to a quieter start before the St Brigid’s Rock Band & Choir gets the tunes thumping at 10am, Celtic Gateway come on at 12noon, and the afternoon finishes off with an open mic session from 3-6pm.
There’s even more Fringe events happening in Gawler over the next few weeks, and heaps more bands and artists playing this weekend, and you can find out all the information about what’s on where by checking out the Council’s Gawler Fringe Program 2017.
So don’t miss your chance to get into the groove! Come on down to Walker Place all weekend and enjoy the food, the music, and just being part of the local scene.
We’ll see you there!
