“It’s Friiiiday Night.” Well actually it isn’t Friday but it is time for Black Books, the cult classic sitcom from year 2000. The setting if a quaint second-hand book shop in Bloomsbury London, but the owner is anything but quaint.
So does the humour hold up? Do the antique phones date the series. Is Bernard just too unpleasant to be funny? How can Black Books be related to Star Wars? These questions and more are addressed by the Cult tV Club.
Black Books episode one was first screened in the U.K on Channel 4 on 29th of September 2000. The series was created by Dylan Moran and Graham Lineham. Episode One was scripted by Dylan Moran and Graham Lineham, directed by Nick Wood and Graham Lineham and starred Dylan Moran as Bernard Black, Bill Bailey as Manny and Tamsin Greig as Fran and featuring guest actor, Martin Freeman as the Doctor.
