There are plenty of oral history groups, projects, organisations and associations out there, all working to preserve the stories and experiences of people from a surprising range of places, backgrounds and careers.

National and State Associations

Oral History Australia

Formed in 1978, OHA is the peak body for Oral History in Australia, and publishes the annual Oral History Australia Journal

Oral History Australia SA/NT Branch

A subsidiary association of the OHA, membership of the SA/NT Branch gives you access to the benefits of OHA

Oral History Victoria

A clean looking website with some good tips and useful information for those wanting to learn more about Oral History

Oral History NSW

Another good resource for the budding oral historian, with tips, links and all sorts of useful information about producing oral histories

Oral History Queensland

Another subsidiary association of the OHA, with some good links to different oral history project happening around the country

The Australian Historical Association

The peak national association for academic, professional and working historians. 

The Royal Australian Historical Society

The oldest historical society in Australia, founded in 1901 to promote the study of Australian History

The Historical Society of South Australia

Established to in 1974 to promote discussion of SA history, this website has some very useful information about South Australian history

The Gawler History Team

Your first and best resource for local Gawler history, with stories, information and thousands and thousands of historic photos
