An enthusiastic crowd gathered at the P/A today for the launch of local artist Martin Johnson’s latest book of poetry, “Umbrellas, Tables and Chairs”, based on his experiences while busking around Gawler. We came along to see the launch and take a few photos!

The book was launched by Rob McLean, editor of The Bunyip, who talked about how Martin had inspired other locals to try their hand at busking, and how he had also helped to organise a lot of cultural activities around Gawler. Martin followed up by reading some of his favourite selections from the book, with some musical backing.

At the end, well-wishers had the chance to stay around for a while to individually congratulate Martin, with some asking him to sign their copies of his book!

Overall the launch was a lot of fun, and we hope many more celebrations of Gawler culture are on their way in the near future.
